Sharp's Court

Sharps Way, Hitchin, Hertfordshire. SG4 0JN

Location

Steeped in history, and rich in local architecture, this beautiful Hertfordshire town really does offer something for everyone. The earliest traces of Hitchin’s history date back to AD792, when King Offa of Mercia founded a religious house on land occupied by the Hicce Tribe. In the 14th and 15th centuries the land was developed and today Hitchin’s Parish Church remains the central feature of the town, whilst pretty streets radiate outwards. Boasting a variety of shops, the county’s largest market and a wide range of pubs and restaurants, you’ve everything you could possibly need, close at hand. Hitchin prides itself on the excellent schooling it provides, and a choice of good primary and secondary schools are less than half a mile away.

Close by there are many places of interest to visit such as Pegsdon Hills, the Market Square and The Biggin, along with North Herts College Sport Centre and Broadway Cinema. Hitchin has an excellent range of shops, many of which have been in the town for a long time. The town is famous for its traditional open market which is the largest in the Home Counties. The market has been in the town for over 500 years. Hitchin has managed to maintain its market town traditions whilst reliable high street names such as Sainsbury’s and Waitrose can also be found.

Ideally located off the A1(M), Sharps Court offers excellent commuter links. A regular bus service runs through the town, while Hitchin station offers services to Kings Cross in just over 30 minutes. For those with further flung destinations in mind, Luton Airport is only 7 and a half miles away.
