Rural charm. Maritimie history. Vibrant heritage.
With many miles of coastline, picturesque estuaries, impressive saltmarshes and the most diverse variety of wildlife, the Maldon region is rich in culture, heritage and nature, appealing to peoples of all ages and tastes. In fact, we've gone out of our way to encourage wildlife at The Lakes, by creating over wintering islands for Terns, in Heybridge Lake. Additional reed beds, and Kingfisher and Sand Martin tunnels for nesting, will also be incorporated and maintained.
Maldon is one of the oldest recorded towns in Essex and to this day its links with the river make it as vital as it was to its early Saxon settlers. The old Thames Sailing Barges are still very much active, though nowadays cargo is made up of passengers rather than traditional goods.
Maldon boasts a parade of shops, quaint tea rooms, historic pubs and traditional restaurants featuring local fare. For those with a passion for the outdoors, Promenade Park is just moments away, as is Blackwater Leisure Centre, Madison Heights, Forrester Park Golf & Tennis Club (Great Totham) and The Warren Golf Club (Maldon). So everything you could possibly need is close at hand.
The region prides itself on its excellent schooling too; Heybridge Primary School is under 1 mile away, whilst the excellent Maldon Lower and Upper Plume schools are also nearby.
