Moira Furnace, a dramatic 19th century blast furnace, also offers a pituresque environment in which to unwind: enjoy a boat trip along the canal or relax in the tea room.
There are lots of walking routes to choose from; amongst ancient parklands, alongside canals, rivers, woodlands, there's so much to explore. If you'd rather indulge in something a little more exhilarating, Swadlincote Ski & Snowboard Centre is just moments away too, where you can ski, snowboard and toboggan all year round.
Steeped in history, with castles and stately homes punctuating the nearby landscape, the hills and valleys of this beautiful area are a sight to behold. Calke Abbey, the second largest country house in Derbyshire after Chatsworth, is a must see - the ideal scene for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
