The town of Selby has a wealth of high street shops, banks and building societies. There are two major supermarkets within the town centre. Selby holds a market every Monday, whioch attracts many visitors from out of the area due to the variety of stalls and produce on offer. Dominating the town centre is the imposing and historic Selby Abbey, which dates back to Norman times and is set in beautiful grounds. Additionally, the town centre has several restaurants and public houses many with views of the River Ouse, which runs through Selby.
