Hawthorn Coppice can be found in the area of Quarry Bank, close to Merry Hill and the vibrant borough of Dudley, which has been a centre of the crystal glass industry since French glassmakers arrived in the early 17th century. Dudley is approximately 10 miles west of Birmingham which, like Wolverhapton, is easily accessible by road and public transport.
Recreation & Leisure
Steeped in history, Dudley hosts an array for both the yound and old. 'The Black Country Museum' is a living museum just a few hundred yards from Dudley town centre where visitors can see a silent cinema, drift mine, old fairground and a 1910 school. Children are sure to appreciate Dudley Zoo and Castle. Set in a 50 acre wooded site and overlooked by a fantastic 11th century castle, the zoo is home to more than 200 species of animals from all over the world. 'The Crooked House' pub is a constant source of wonder. Built in 1765, the pub now stands 4ft lower on one side.
If you enjoy beautiful country walks, Clent Hills is sure to delight, with its stunning scenery and picnic areas. Himley Hall and Park is an 18th century hall set within 180 acres of glorious parkland, once the family home of the Earls of Dudley and host to royalty and high society. Golfers will find Himley Hall golf course a real challenge.
For something more active, you're sure to enjoy the 'Crystal Leisure Centre', just over two miles away in Stourbridge. There is also 'The Village' hotel leisure centre between Merry Hill and Dudley.
Transport
Links are superb, with the road network offering easy access to the major towns of Dudley and Stourbridge. 'Hwthorn Coppice' is convenient for the motorway network, with the M5 and M6 providing good connections to the rest of the country. Birmingham International Airport is approixmately 30 miles away.
