Swadlincote and the outlying villages of South Derbyshire have so much to offer, including superb shops, bustling markets, the renowned TG Green Factory Shop with its world famous "Cornishware", and endless places to eat, drink and unwind, from village tea rooms to rural pubs and award-winning restaurants.
If you love the great outdoors, there is so much to choose from. The National Forest provides over 200 square miles of woodland, while Conkers, at the heart of it, offers a great place for the whole family, with interactive exhibits, woodland sculptures, an amphitheatre, lakeside trains, an assault course and lots more. Moira Furnace, a dramatic 19th Century blast furnace, also offers a picturesque environment in which to unwind.
There are lots of walking routes to choose from; amongst ancient parklands, alongside canals and rivers and in woodlands, and there's so much to explore. If you'd rather indulge in something a little more exhilarating, Swadlincote Ski & Snowboard Centre is just moments away too, where you can ski, snowboard and toboggan all year round.
Steeped in history, with castles and stately homes punctuating the nearby landscape, the hills and valleys of this beautiful area are a sight to behold. Calke Abbey, the second largest country house in Derbyshire after Chatsworth, is a "must see" and is the ideal scene for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
