Cottingham has a regular market, plus two main shopping streets, Hallgate and King Street, offering a wide range of shops. A short train ride away, Hull boasts a bright modern shopping mall at Princes Quay, with 70 stores over three floors plus a ten screen Vue cinema and a wide choice of restaurants. For a different shopping experience, try the famous farmers market held monthly at Driffield near Beverley.
Out and about
Cottingham is perfectly placed for great days out, with the famous seaside towns of Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington all within easy reach for a stroll and an ice cream, and three national parks all within driving distance for a more testing walk. For culture, head to Hull, where you’ll enjoy a choice of three theatres offering a diverse selection of entertainment, along with no less than eight museums in the Museum Quarter.
Beverley Minster is well worth a visit, as Britain’s most impressive non-cathedral church, while a day at the races at Beverley is always a spectacular experience. The delightful historic city of York is just 35 miles away, including the famous Minster, Shambles and the Jorvik history centre.
Cottingham lies midway between Hull and Beverley, around 4 miles from each, with easy road links between the two. The end of the M62 is just 17 miles away to the east, giving access to the extensive northern motorway network and the M1, while the M180 lies just beyond Hull to the south. Cottingham has its own railway station offering swift commuter links into Hull.
