Transport
Stourport enjoys a quiet life, yet remains within easy reach of Birmingham (26 miles), Worcester (13m) and Kidderminster (5m), as well as the M5 and M42 (approx 15m). Nearby Hartlebury railway station links to Birmingham in just 50 minutes in the rush hour, and Worcester in just over 20 mins.
Shopping
Stourport already boasts a lively high street, with an excellent range of shops, and this is set to improve very soon with the completion of the new £50million Crown Centre development featuring a brand new Tesco supermarket, a food court and a host of new shops.
A wonderful waterside life
Built at the meeting of the River Severn and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, Stourport enjoys a unique waterside lifestyle. From active pursuits like rowing and watersports, to relaxed river cruises, the focus is firmly on fun. Even the annual festival parade takes place along the river, with a flotilla of boats by day and night creating a stunning spectacle. Stourport also enjoys a delightfully rural location, with plenty of open space to explore and enjoy. Take a stroll around War Memorial Park on the doorstep of the development; visit Hartlebury Common, Leapgate Country Park or Ribbesford Wood all close by; or head a little further afield to the woodlands of Wyre Forest.
Out and about
Stourport has a strong sense of community, with a wide range of clubs and associations, activities and sports to take part in. Stourport Hockey Club is particularly active, with more than a dozen different teams representing the town. Stourport also boasts a modern and well supported leisure centre, with pool, gym and sport hall, as well as a strong boat club for rowers and sailors. There’s fun for all the family at Treasure Island Funfair, with over 25 rides, while the Go Ape activity centre in Wyre Forest will soon wear your kids out with rope walks and zip wire trails. Wyre Forest Golf Club is also within easy reach. Further afield, there are endless castles and ancient towns to explore in Shropshire and the Welsh Marches, including Ludlow, with its spectacular Medieval Christmas Fayre.
Schools and services
Hamlet Place has a choice of good quality primary schools within walking distance, including Burlish Park Primary, Stourport Primary and St Wulstans Catholic Primary. Stourbridge High provides secondary education in the town, while there are also a number of excellent independent schools in the area, particularly within Worcester.
Local doctors can be found at York Medical Centre on York Street and Stourport Health Centre & Medical Centre with dentists at R. Arrowsmith on Bewdley Road.
