Another top award for Redrow

Success in helping first time buyers onto the property ladder whilst still maintaining a healthy profit margin has earned house builder Redrow a top industry award.

Demonstrating how “innovation and a dedication to sustainable communities can actually be good for the bottom line” was cited as one of the main reasons why Redrow was named ‘Major Housebuilder of the Year’ at the long established Building Awards.

The awards, organised by Building magazine, are one of the main events in the construction industry’s calendar.

Judges commented: “It’s been a tough year for housebuilding, but that hasn’t stopped Redrow forging ahead with record pre-tax profits of £141 million, more than 4,000 completions, 70% of which were on brownfield land, and a healthy-looking land bank of more than 22,000 plots.

“It also hasn’t stopped Redrow from taking on John Prescott’s challenge to build homes for £60,000. In fact, its Debut range, which is specifically targeted at first-time buyers, has gone one better with price-tags starting at less than £50k in some locations.

“Redrow has taken the Barker Review to heart, prioritising affordability, modern methods of construction and sustainability. It has imposed a legal framework to prevent Debut homes being snapped up by investors and the range has achieved the BRE EcoHomes rating of ‘excellent’. A winner on all counts.”

The Building title comes hot on the heels of Redrow also being voted ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ by national consumer property magazine, Your New Home.

Redrow’s exciting Debut range features innovatively designed, energy efficient, one and two-bedroom homes. Across the UK, Redrow has set itself an objective of delivering 2,000 Debut homes per annum within five years.

Debut properties have already been introduced to great acclaim and huge demand in Rugby, Birmingham, Chorley, Stoke-on-Trent and Hawarden, in Flintshire. Planning consent has recently been granted in Sittingbourne, Kent, and permission is being sought in Bristol and at Ebbw Vale and Bridgend, in South Wales.

Apart from Debut, Redrow continues to build an extensive range of sought-after family homes in desirable town and village locations and also has a number of high profile contemporary apartment schemes in places like Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Crawley and Eastbourne.
