Customer loyalty helps boost children's hospice

Tue, Nov 13th 2007, 16:00

Redrow Homes (North West) donated £500 to the charity in Clatterbridge, which provides specialist respite care and terminal care to babies, children and young people from Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The company made the donation after winning an in-house incentive for its commitment to customer satisfaction.

The scheme rewards Redrow regional housing companies that score highly in customer satisfaction surveys carried out post-legal completion and invites them to donate a cash prize to the charity of their choice.

Everyone who moves into a brand new Redrow home is contacted independently and asked to rate the level of customer service they received and whether they would recommend Redrow to their friends.

The Preston Brook-based operation was one of Redrow’s most successful companies for 2006/2007 with 89 per cent of North West customers who responded to the telephone survey saying they would recommend Redrow to a friend or family member and 86% saying they were totally satisfied with the service they received.

Redrow’s chosen beneficiary, Claire House relies entirely on charitable donations for all of its income and running costs and needs to raise £160,000 every month just to stay open

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (North West) says: “Redrow Homes (North West) is keen to get involved in the communities in which it builds and we are proud to support Claire House and the fantastic work that it does.

“It really is a wonderful place which allows children and their families to spend some special time together, so when we received our unexpected windfall there was no question of where it should go.

“The prize is given in recognition of our team’s efforts to ensure that our customers are completely satisfied with the service they receive and it is extremely rewarding to know that we achieved such an excellent score.”
Earlier this year Redrow donated £7,000 to Claire House – money raised at the housebuilder’s annual charity dinner.

Claire House has beds for 10 children but provides respite care for about 200 young people and their families.

Facilities include a multi-sensory room, a jacuzzi, hydrotherapy pool, teenage room, arts and crafts area, physiotherapy/complimentary therapy and a multi-purpose room offering music therapy, group activities or quiet reflection.
Head of Appeals at Claire House, Janet Croker, said: “We do really appreciate the support of Redrow. They are generous supporters of Claire House and this is just one of many donations they have made to improve the quality of life for the children in our care.

“The money will be used to buy arts and crafts equipment because therapy is very important and the children love to play with anything tactile, that they can handle such as clay, sand or paints.”

Redrow builds around 5,000 new homes each year in England, Scotland and Wales, including developments at Bromborough and Spital, in Wirral, Wrexham and Ewloe in North Wales, Farndon, Crewe and Ditton in Cheshire and Stockport, Oldham and Altrincham in Greater Manchester.
Redrow has long been committed to charity work throughout the UK and last year set up the Redrow Foundation – a charitable trust dedicated to providing financial support for the relief of poverty and sickness in the UK and, in particular, to providing accommodation and related assistance, including respite care, especially to children, the elderly and those who are sick or infirm. Fifty pounds from the sale of each Redrow home goes directly to the Foundation.
