Maldon Saints score 'home' goal with new kit from Redrow
Mon, Dec 17th 2007, 11:00
The team scored a great ‘home’ victory when award winning housebuilder Redrow – currently active at The Lakes, in Heybridge – agreed to donate £350 to pay for a new strip.
Club secretary Garry Cole comments: “We’re extremely grateful to Redrow for their support as we rely on donations from local businesses to help keep the club going. The lads are all delighted with their new kit and now hope to prove themselves to be the niftiest footballers in town as well as the best-dressed!”
Maldon Saints play their home matches at Maldon Promenade, in Park Drive, and have 18 teams in total. The Under 12s’ squad plays in the Chelmer & Crouch League, a nine-a-side, mixed ability league that’s designed to bridge the gap between mini soccer and the 11-a-side youth game. The Under 12s are currently sitting around the mid-table position.
Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern) – who are building three, four and five-bedroom homes surrounded by water on three sides at The Lakes - said: “More than just a housebuilder, Redrow is committed to creating new communities and enhancing the ones in which it builds; support for local clubs like Maldon Saints is an important part of this. We have also made donations locally to Heybridge Church, the Blackwater Country Show and the Essex Air Ambulance.”
Investing in the communities in which it builds has helped Redrow nationally to retain the Business In The Community ‘PerCent Standard’ for four consecutive years, for giving at least one percent of its pre-tax profits back to the community in cash donations, sponsorship, employee time or gifts in kind.
