Redrow scoops platinum award for helping next generation of workers

The developer’s Bristol-based subsidiary has been given the Employer Learner Partnership Platinum Award by the Government-funded body Education Business Plus. 

Every year, Gold and Platinum awards are presented to the organisations that display excellent practice in supporting work related learning for young people. They celebrate employers doing extraordinary thing to develop a new generation of skilled workers and develop individual talents by offering young people opportunities to learn about, for and through work.

Education Business Plus Wiltshire and Swindon, an organisation dedicated to improving work-based teaching, announced Redrow as this year’s Platinum Award winners, saying they richly deserved this award for making such a positive difference to work related learning for young people in Wiltshire.
Bob Sowden, construction director for Redrow Homes (South West), was delighted with the honour: “It’s fantastic we’ve been recognised for this award. At Redrow we’re committed to contributing to the development of tomorrow’s work force.

“We always do our best to provide as much help and information as possible such as supervised site visits and the use of our marketing suites. So far almost 500 students have participated in site visits in West Wiltshire alone. Our site manager Martyn Woodland has been involved in many of these visits over the years and finds them both enjoyable and rewarding.”

Education Business Plus said they were particularly impressed with the willingness of site managers for the sites to be used as an educational resource and the organisation’s ability to host these visits under agreed supervision.
