'Debut' leads to encore at Redrow housing venture

But Redrow’s award winning Debut range has given the young couple just the leg-up they needed.

Having got themselves on to the property ladder thanks to the innovative Debut development at Buckshaw Village, near Chorley,  they’re now climbing to the next rung by buying their second home from Redrow’s ‘core’ housing range still within the village.

The couple, who had previously lived in rented accommodation, credit Redrow’s affordable Debut range with allowing them to move forward in their quest for a place to call their own.

Stephen, 31, an electrical engineer and dedicated musician in his spare time, says: “Although we had always rented, both Laura and I were eager to get on the property ladder and purchasing a Debut home allowed us to take our first step.

“It was a good starting block and the invaluable help and guidance of the sales consultants meant the process of buying our first home was less pressurised and less stressful than we might have expected”

Designed with first time buyers in mind – though not exclusively for them – the Debut homes are not only inexpensive, they include other practical features to make home ownership as easy as possible.

For example, the buyer pays just one monthly service charge, which includes the gas, water and electricity bills, as well as buildings insurance, external maintenance – and even the cost of window cleaning – making it so much easier for novice home owners to manage their monthly outgoings.

Purchasers can also defer 10% and 15%of the initial purchase price for up to 10 years as an interest-free fixed sum that can be paid off in monthly instalments, occasional lump sums or in full at any time.

Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire) says: “Redrow’s Debut range is all about helping to make ownership accessible, affordable and easy to manage for first time buyers. Its introduction was also about stimulating the housing market further up the chain by nurturing first time buyers, bringing them through the home owning process and hopefully inspiring brand loyalty at the same time.

“The fact that Stephen and Laura are now able to move up the chain and buy a bigger home is great for them and a perfect example of how Debut was designed to work. It also demonstrates the pulling power of Buckshaw Village and how the diversity of product choice allows people to stay here as their housing needs evolve.”

Twelve months after buying their one-bedroom Debut home the couple decided it was time to move on and up, so have purchased a two-bedroom ‘Eden’ style property at Redrow’s Worden Court.

Laura, a trained beauty therapist, says: “Although we were very happy with our Debut home, after time we felt it had fulfilled its purpose and we wanted a bigger house, with its own garden and a garage. By getting onto the ladder, building up some equity and with mortgage payments costing less than renting we found ourselves in the position to move up. Having settled at Buckshaw Village the house at Worden Court ticked all of the boxes of what our new home should be.”

As well as having the two bedrooms, a garage and the garden they hankered after, Laura and Stephen’s Eden also gives them the added luxury of an en-suite to master bedroom.

Worden Court is just one of several Redrow developments at Buckshaw Village, which between them offer a wide choice of housing from starter homes to detached family homes and elegant three-storey town houses.
They include the very latest one and two-bedroom Debut properties, currently priced from £94,995 (or just £80,745 if they opt to use the easi-buy). For this purchasers get a two-storey ‘D3’ design with double bedroom and bathroom at entry level and bright and airy, open plan living, dining and kitchen area above.

All within Buckshaw Village, Worden Court, Worden Manor and Crescent Green between them currently offer a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, two, three and four-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses, four-bedroom semi and detached family homes and three-storey town houses, across the board from £119,995 to £279,995.

The village itself is a whole new community that includes its own employment, shopping and leisure facilities, as well as being located close to the established towns of Chorley and Leyland.

The area benefits from excellent road connections with easy access to the M6 and M61 motorways, whilst another attractive proposition is the proposal for a new railway station within the development itself.
