Redrow provides feast at Debden day

Thu, May 15th 2008, 10:30

In keeping with its philosophy of investing in the communities in which it builds, Redrow Homes is proudly sponsoring a key element of this year’s Debden Day (Saturday, 24th May)

Following the recent launch of its exciting new housing venture The Rodings, located on Borders Lane, Loughton, the award-winning house builder has shown further commitment to the area by funding Debden Day’s senior citizens’ lunch.

First held in 2000 to celebrate the millennium, Debden Day was originally intended as a one-off event. But a massive turnout and positive response has meant that it has now grown to an annual celebration of Debden and the Loughton Broadway community.

Organised by Loughton Broadway Town Centre Partnership (LBTCP), the event is held on Debden Broadway and features a wide range of activities and stalls perfect for the whole family. This year’s event, which has a ‘Wild West Extravaganza’ theme, will be held on Saturday, May 24, from 9.45am to 4pm.

Considered to be an integral part of the event, the senior citizens’ lunch has only been included in the festivities once before due to a lack of funding. It returns this year thanks to generous support from Redrow Homes.

David Stannard, chairman of LBTCP, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the donation and help received from Redrow. The senior citizens lunch is an important part of this wonderful community day and we’re very pleased to be bringing it back bigger and better than ever.

“We’ve had a brilliant response to its return and we’re very excited to be able to provide a slap-up carvery meal this year, complete with entertainment from Chigwell Disabled Group, at the local pub. It’s the support and generosity of businesses such as Redrow that makes Debden Day possible and also enables it to grow in scope and depth. Without Redrow we wouldn’t have been able to have the lunch, which truly is a vital part of the event.”

Debden Day is packed with family fun, including fun stalls, a stage area, which will feature performances from local community groups and a children’s play area, which will include a Wild West fantasy playrun, two fairground rides, magic and puppet shows as well as a ‘meet the cowboys and indians’ event.

There will also be a prize raffle and any money raised will be donated to local community groups.

Caron Hutchins, sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern), said: “We are delighted to be able to contribute to Debden Day, we recognise the importance of corporate support for such valuable community events and Redrow goes to great lengths to help.

“From improving the environments in which we build to investing in local community projects, to sports sponsorship and supporting education, Redrow has a hand in far more than bricks and mortar.”

In addition to its contribution to Debden Day, Redrow Homes (Eastern) is also sponsoring the Suffolk Youth Games for a fifth consecutive year in 2008, which is being held on July 6th  in Ipswich.

The Rodings combines a fantastic array of competitively priced, quality-built properties with a wonderful location that is just minutes from Debden tube station, on the Central Line, and Loughton high street, offering something for buyers at every stage of the property ladder.

Initial prices at The Rodings start from just £195,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and three-bedroom homes from £360,000.
