Youngsters living at Buckshaw Village, near Chorley, have been invited to design a special greetings card to celebrate the development’s fifth birthday.

Entries will be displayed in Redrow Homes’ marketing suite, off Central Avenue, this weekend (17th / 18th May) when visitors will be able to vote for their favourite for a special ‘people’s choice’ award.

The competition has also been thrown open to pupils at nearby Euxton St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, who recently met Redrow’s health and safety mascot, Buster the bear,

but entries are also welcome from all primary school age children living at or near Buckshaw Village.

There are five prizes of £50 Toys’R’Us vouchers for the winning entries – four will be decided by Redrow but the fifth will be thrown open to the public vote.

Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), says: “Throughout May we’re celebrating the fifth anniversary of Buckshaw Village with events for everyone, young and old. The birthday card design competition is a great way of involving local children and getting them to display their artistic talents.

“Entries will be on display from 10am to 5.30pm on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May and people will be able to have a look at them all and vote for their favourite.”

Other events taking place during May include a five-a-side tournament for local schools, businesses and residents; a tea-dance for ex-workers of ROF Chorley, which once occupied the site where Buckshaw Village sits now; and a family fun day on Sunday, June 1st featuring tethered rides in the Redrow hot air balloon, subject to weather, entertainment and refreshments.
Entries for the birthday card design competition must be delivered to the Redrow marketing suite by 12 noon on Friday, 16th May, and should have the child’s name, age, address and parent or guardian’s contact telephone number on the back.
