Birthday celebrations gather some pace and 'treasured' memories

Visitors to Buckshaw Village searched for something other than a new home at the weekend when Redrow hosted an exciting treasure hunt at its Chorley venture.
The event – part of the month-long Buckshaw Village’s 5th anniversary celebrations – saw eager participants displaying some nifty footwork as they hunted five keys hidden around the development.
Contestants of all ages raced to locate the giant Redrow branded red and white keys which each opened five boxes containing prizes donated by local businesses based at Buckshaw Village.
However, it is was quick paced Lancashire locals, Steve Wharton, Dave Shuttleworth, John Farrell, Steve Brown and Joanne Reid, who are all polishing their winner’s medals after finding the keys before anyone else could ‘home’ in on them.
Their prizes include vouchers for Hair on the square, The Bobbin Mill pub, a facial at Charmed beauty shop and aftershave and perfume from Rimmers pharmacy.
Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire) says: “The treasure hunt was a great success. Four of the keys were found on Saturday and a last minute dash meant the remaining key was located on Sunday morning.
“Residents and visitors all took part and the fact that the prizes were donated by onsite businesses meant it really was a community effort.”
The treasure hunt was another successful event from the Buckshaw Village 5th anniversary celebration calendar. More planned events in May including a five-a-side tournament for local schools, businesses and residents; a tea-dance for ex-workers of ROF Chorley, which once occupied the site where Buckshaw Village sits now; and a family fun day on Sunday, June 1st.
