Teachers have given Redrow’s Learning Web a four-star rating as the number of people visiting the website increases ten-fold.
Word is spreading fast about the free on-line educational resource from award winning house builder Redrow. After featuring in an e-newsletter from Schoolzone – the UK’s most visited and used schools support website – the average weekly ‘hits’ to Redrow’s Learning Web have increased by more than 1000%.
Plus, the educational website received an impressive four stars out of five for its educational content from a panel of teachers reviewing the site for Schoolzone.
Redrow’s marketing director Simon Bennett said: “We’re delighted with Schoolzone’s endorsement of the Redrow Learning Web and that teachers and pupils are using the website in increasing numbers.
“Redrow has a commitment to learning and education, not least because some of the children who explore the Redrow Learning Web are the future of our industry and hopefully it will encourage more young people to consider careers in areas such as town planning, health & safety and construction.”
The Redrow Learning Web meets with National Curriculum requirements and has been accredited by the National Grid for Learning (NGfL) and as such it is a valuable resource for teachers. While the secondary school module (aimed at children aged 12 to 16 years old), ‘Plan It…Build It!’ supports citizenship studies, the primary school module (for children aged eight to 11), ‘The House Detectives’ is ideal for the subjects of geography and history.
In addition to worksheets that can be downloaded and printed off for pupils to complete during lessons or in their own time, the Redrow Learning Web includes a bespoke teachers’ area where teachers can download PowerPoint presentations and information sheets to help them prepare lessons and guide their pupils.
The Redrow Learning Web also contains details of a health and safety initiative targeted at younger primary school children. Introducing ‘Buster the Bear’, it features safety tips, puzzles and information on the hazards to be found on a building site.
As one of the UK’s top 10 housebuilders, Redrow is committed to education and community support and The Redrow Learning Web is an integral part of this commitment.
