Popular ex-police horse gees up interest for Redrow homes

Mon, Sep 8th 2008, 09:00

An ex-police horse was one of the star attractions at Redrow Homes’ stand at the Pontarddulais show.

Redrow had a stand at the agricultural and horticultural show to promote its new Cae Rebeca development off Bolgoed Road.

Along with Redrow’s health and safety mascot Buster the Bear, Cae Rebeca sales consultant Donna Hughes-Cook also brought along her beloved 20-year-old horse Rusty, who until his retirement six years ago, loyally served the Metropolitan Police.

Donna said: “We had lots of visitors to the stall from people interested in the new homes but who had also seen Rusty and wanted to come and say hello.
“He was particularly popular with the children and after visiting the stall many of them came back later in the day to see him again and bring him carrots and his favourite treat – polos! The children and adults alike were particularly impressed with his latest trick of giving kisses. Buster the Bear was also with us, chatting to the visitors and handing out Redrow goodie bags.”

Donna added: “We had something for everyone at the stall. The children were entertained by Rusty and Buster and their parents were able to find out more about the beautiful new homes we have for sale at Cae Rebeca.”

Cae Rebeca is a beautiful development featuring an excellent choice of quality-built contemporary homes, close to all of the local amenities of Pontardulais and also within easy reach of Swansea and Llanelli. There’s also good access to the M4 for travel to Cardiff.

It was given the historical name as a reminder of rioters who helped bring an end to political, social and economic injustice in the 19th century. The entrance to the scheme on Bolgoed Road lies about a hundred yards from a commemorative monument opposite the Fountain Inn, dedicated to a group known as ‘Rebeca’, who destroyed the controversial Bolgoed toll-gate in 1843.

The toll-gates are long gone and Pontardulais is now a welcoming place for home owners. It boasts an impressive range of amenities to cater for homebuyers everyday needs, with banks, shops and a Post Office all located on the main High Street. Alternatively, for those looking to indulge in some serious retail therapy, good transport links make the shopping centres of Swansea easily accessible.

Cae Rebeca presents fabulous opportunities for a variety of leisure pursuits, from multi-purpose sports halls, fishing and rugby.

Swansea is just eight miles away and the development is within a short drive of the beautiful scenery of the Gower coastline. For those with children, Pontardulais offers a good choice of schools, both English and Welsh speaking.

There are currently one to four-bedroom homes available, with prices ranging from £109,995 for a one-bedroom apartment and to £169,995 for a four-bedroom townhouses.
