A children’s hospice that supports families across the south of England has benefited from a donation of over £11,000 from Redrow Homes.
Naomi House was the beneficiary when Redrow staff, sub-contractors, suppliers and their guests raised a total of £11,395 during a charity ball held at Oakley Hall in Basingstoke.
Clive Sanders, corporate fundraiser at Naomi House, which provides respite, palliative, terminal and bereavement care and support for children and their families, said: “We have to raise approximately £2.5 million a year to keep the hospice open. We receive no government funding but rely entirely on voluntary donations to enable us to care for nearly 200 children. We also offer support to their families and to those families who have lost children in the past, so in total we have a community of over 1,000 people who we are helping on a regular basis.
“Support from the corporate sector is growing in importance for us. As well as generating a tremendous sum for us, the ball organised by Redrow was a great help in promoting the cause of Naomi House to a broad group of potential new supporters for the future. We hope that, based on this success, we shall be able to develop a good long term relationship with Redrow.”
The money raised by Redrow will pay for the care of a child at Naomi House for a year.
Paul Moran, sales director at Basingstoke-based Redrow Homes (Southern), which currently has developments in East and West Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, said: “Naomi House provides a valuable home-from-home environment for children and young people with life-limiting conditions that mean that they will not live to become adults. I would like to thank everybody who supported and attended the event and made our fundraising efforts such a success.”
The money raised was generated from ticket sales and a raffle, with prizes including a four foot blue and white rabbit! Oakley Hall gave Redrow a discount on the menu per head and also donated a raffle prize of a shooting day, while Redrow’s sub-contractors and suppliers donated prizes such as a racing day, £300 of wine vouchers and a spa day for two people.
Across the UK, Redrow is a keen supporter of a number of charities and regularly fundraises for worthwhile causes. The award winning home builder features on a distinguished list of just over a hundred top UK businesses that give at least one per cent of their annual pre-tax profits to the community through donations of cash, staff and management time and gifts in kind, earning the company a Business in the Community PerCent standard.
