If it’s your first time, you’re nervous, and don’t know whether you can go through with it, then all the help you need is available this weekend (March 4/5) at Ley Vale in Frome.

Redrow is holding a first-time buyer weekend aimed at de-mystifying the home buying process and giving people a leg-up onto the property ladder.

Not only will visitors be able to get helpful financial advice from Nick Gillian, of Chadney Bulgin, they can also take advantage of the fabulous offer of 5% deposit paid by Redrow on select apartments.

According to research published in the New Year by the Halifax, Redrow’s special weekend should be music to the ears of any first-timer. The Halifax found that first-time buyers need to save for nearly twice as long as five years ago and it now takes the typical first-timer five years to save a deposit.

Since 2000, the deposit first time buyers put down has also significantly increased. Five years ago, the typical deposit was £9,894, equivalent to 42% of the average earnings. The typical deposit is now £23,967, equivalent to 76% of the average earnings of £31,485 a year.

Sandra Hughes, areas sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), says: “It’s not getting any easier for people looking to own their first home, but with our first-time buyer weekend at Ley Vale we’re trying to smooth the way with good advice and value-for-money properties.

“With two-bedroom homes starting from under £130,000 and one-bedroom apartments at under £120,000, Ley Vale provides realistic opportunities for people to fulfil their aspirations of becoming a homeowner. Our range of contemporary properties provide the ideal stepping stone to get people from rented accommodation, or living with parents into an easy to manage, stylish new pad they’d be proud to call their own.

“Our offer of five per cent deposit paid removes one of the main hurdles faced by first timers and with the help of our independent financial advisor, people can get quick answers to all those key questions they need to ask. It couldn’t be easier.”

Redrow’s stylish one-bedroom apartments start from £119,995, two-bedroom coach houses from £129,995 and two-bedroom homes from £149,995.

A range of three-bedroom homes and three-storey townhouses from £184,995 are also available, ensuring first timers with aspirations of elevated living need look no further for a more spacious second home.

Visitors attending the first time buyer’s weekend can see their appeal first hand by touring an inspiring three-bedroom showhome.

All properties include energy efficient heating, PVCu double-glazed windows and modern standards of insulation to help ensure lower running costs.
