A decade on and it’s taking the new generation of first time buyers nearly twice as long to save up a deposit for their first home – so Redrow has devised a way for people to move in for just £99.
According to the latest research from National Savings & Investments (NS & I), it now takes almost five years for UK first time buyers to save up a deposit for a home – considerably longer than the two years and nine months it took a decade ago.
But home buyers in Thatcham should not be worried as Redrow is treating those on the hunt for a stylish and contemporary new home to a special ‘£99 and move in’ deal on a range of two-bedroom properties at its Kennet Heath development.
Paul Moran, sales director for Redrow Homes (Southern) said: “We understand how difficult it can be to get the money for a deposit together, which is why we are giving new homebuyers a break and offering to take the stress away by helping with the initial fees that come with buying a house.
“With hardly any initial cash outlay, this incentive should appeal to the professional twenty and thirty-something’s, who regard a quality lifestyle as a priority. Buyers in this age group are having too much of a good time to think about saving for house deposits – this is where our £99 deal can make all the difference.”
All buyers have to do is pay £99 and Redrow will take care of the rest by paying a 5% deposit, stamp duty and £500 towards the legal fees, as well as including free fitted carpets within the buying price of the property Kennet Heath offers a wealth of two-bedroom properties, which will suit buyers from all backgrounds, including first time buyers, empty nesters and those just wanting a house to escape to at the weekend.
Paul continued: “The two-bedroom apartments available at Kennet Heath are perfect for those who want a low maintenance home. There is no DIY or garden to tend to, meaning you can get on with the life you want to lead.”
Also available is the two-bedroom Canterbury mid-terrace house, which features an open plan lounge/dining room, downstairs cloakroom, kitchen, two double bedrooms and a modern bathroom with white suite and chrome finish fittings.
Kennet Heath is situated in one of England’s oldest towns, Thatcham, a quintessential market town. Each home on the development has been traditionally constructed to include a wealth of individual features.
Conveniently located just off the A4, Kennet Heath provides easy access to nearby Newbury, Basingstoke and Reading, with the M4 and M3 motorways just a short drive away. Even better, Thatcham railway station is within walking distance and offers frequent trains to Reading and Paddington. Whilst closer to home, the breathtaking scenery of the nearby Kennet and Avon canal will keep boating enthusiasts and walkers alike in their element.
Prices for the two-bedroom Canterbury style home start from £183,950, while the two-bedroom apartments range from £157,950 to £169,950.
