Crawley development reaches new high

A momentous high point was reached at an apartment venture in Crawley when the last tile was tapped into the final balcony of the Omega block at Redrow’s Porterhouse development.
The official ‘Topping Out’ ceremony was carried out by Cllr Sally Blake, Mayor of Crawley, and marks an important stage in the construction process at Porterhouse.
Stuart Rowlands, managing director for Redrow Homes (Southern), said: “The topping out of this building is a tradition to celebrate the completion of the main structure, but we also wanted to celebrate the accomplishment of all the workers involved.
“Porterhouse is a flagship scheme for Redrow and is transforming what was a brownfield site into a vibrant new residential area that will encourage a new way of contemporary living in Crawley.
“The topping out ceremony has provided the development with a new zest. People are already living in the first building and with the town’s Mayor commemorating this important part of proceedings, the development just keeps getting better.”
Councillor Sally Blake, Mayor of Crawley, said she was delighted to help celebrate the topping out of this impressive development. “This is an ideal location being close to Three Bridges railway station with its fast rail links to London and the south coast and the Fastway buses to Gatwick and Horley. Fastway will also take residents to K2 Crawley, our fabulous new leisure complex. I very much hope that the people who move in here will enjoy their new homes.”
Porterhouse comprises four individual buildings, with striking white and terracotta external elevations and creative brickwork design that sets this development apart. The individual buildings range from four to six-storeys high, and the development boasts an electronically gated entrance that leads to secure surface and underground parking. All apartments feature either a terrace or balcony and there are also a select number of duplex apartments boasting accommodation over two floors and fabulous roof terraces.
Porterhouse is perfectly located for commuters as Crawley is positioned between Brighton and London. With the capital just a 40 minute journey from Three Bridges train station, opposite the development, Portherhouse offers the perfect opportunity to get away from the urban rush at the end of the working day.
The area is also close to the M23 and M25 motorways, making both Gatwick and Heathrow airports easily accessible.
Porterhouse is the epitome of stylish living, with each of the 87 apartments providing modern living space and easy access to the capital and beyond. The nearby Gatwick airport, just a ten-minute journey away, is a real draw for investors and for the lock-up-and-leave generation, who can invest in a property that is a stone’s throw from their holiday home in the sun.
Redrow’s Porterhouse apartments have been performing consistently well since the scheme sprang onto the property scene in 2005. Prices are currently from £169,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and two-bedroom apartments start from £220,000 – all come with car parking space.
