Taste the difference

Whether your taste in interior design is traditional or contemporary the show homes at Garncroft Wynd, in Glenboig, North Lanarkshire, reveal that you can achieve either look with clever styling.
Redrow’s interior designers have decorated, furnished and accessorised the four-bedroom Lea and Otter homes at Garncroft Wynd in two very different styles, which show how a new home can be easily personalised.
With no decorating nightmares left behind by previous owners, a new property offers a totally blank canvass that gives home buyers a wonderful opportunity to make their own stylish statement.
The show homes at Garncroft Wynd give the perfect insight into how the choice of colours and materials can achieve the perfect look – whether that is traditional or contemporary.
Andrew McIvor, interior designer for Redrow, says: “Within the Lea show home we have tried to appeal to more mature tastes with a country and period theme. For example, we’ve drawn inspiration from Laura Ashley with features such as a large neutral-coloured print wallpaper that runs the length of the lounge.
“The traditional, almost antique look, is continued throughout the home with large pieces of furniture and we even have a loose link to the Art Deco period with mirrored Venetian glass bedside tables.
“In contrast the Otter has been given a much more modern feel using aqua and chocolate accent colours, plasma screens, a modular L-shaped sofa, simple and straight-lined furniture, high backed brown leather chairs in the dining room and plenty of bespoke contemporary art.”
The Otter features a kitchen/breakfast room, separate dining room and lounge, utility room, cloakroom, and integrated garage on the ground floor. Upstairs are the four bedrooms with a family bathroom and en-suite to the master bedroom.
Similarly the Lea has four bedrooms with an en-suite to the master bedroom and a family bathroom to serve the rest. Downstairs is the kitchen, through lounge and dining room, cloakroom and utility room.
Anne Anderson, sales director for Redrow Homes (Scotland), says: “The show homes at Garncroft Wynd give a real insight into the versatility of a new property and how clever design, imagination and personal choice can create whatever feel you want in your new home.”
The development, located off Glenboig Farm Road, will feature 93 properties in the first phase, offering a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes in terraced, semi and detached designs.
This is Redrow’s second ‘live’ development in North Lanarkshire with its hugely successful Heathfield Park development in nearby Gartcosh offering further choice within a well established and maturing environment.
The village of Glenboig is approximately two miles north of Coatbridge and enjoys similar advantages to Gartcosh, especially for commuters, in that it offers excellent access to the M73, A80 and M8 and is about 10 miles from Glasgow city centre. Gartcosh railway station is also close by, offering a regular service to Glasgow Queen Street in less than 20 minutes.
