Apartments planned for Filton

The town of Filton, just a few miles from Bristol city centre, is set to provide the latest ‘shop window’ for home builder Redrow.
The company is hoping to build 65 apartments on a site adjacent to the Airbus factory in Southmead Road and a planning application will be submitted to South Gloucestershire District Council shortly.
Robert Slocombe, managing director of Almondsbury based Redrow Homes (South West), says: “Filton is an excellent location for a development of this kind. The town is home to several major industries, including Airbus UK and Rolls Royce, which should provide a ready supply of owner occupiers and potential tenants for investor buyers.”
The land is being purchased from BAE Systems and fronts the main A38 road alongside the main entrance to the Airbus factory. Redrow’s proposals will include 45 apartments for open market private sale, offering a mix of one and two-bedroom accommodation, plus 20 affordable units.
Robert adds: “Filton is on main bus routes into Bristol city centre, close to main arterial routes and just a couple of miles from Bristol Parkway station, which all add to the widespread appeal for owner occupiers and investors alike.”
With planning consent still to be achieved, development of the Southmead Road site is unlikely to start for several months, but would-be purchasers can register their interest by calling Redrow’s sales hotline on 0845 676 0500.
