Site manager Mark Horne has been honoured in the ‘Oscars’ of the building industry for his work at Redrow’s Poppy Meadow development in Long Itchington.
Mark, who is an established member of the Redrow team, has won the coveted Quality award in the National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job initiative, which rewards consistent and high standards of site management and new home building.
Out of the 18 000 site managers who enter the competition, only 400 can win the prestigious Quality award. Mark will now go forward to the next stage of the national award scheme, where he’ll be in the bidding for an even more prized ‘Seal of Excellence’.
Mark, 38, from Broughton Astley, Leicester, says: "I think I have won because of my dedication to making the site the best it can be, I help to keep it tidy and I’m not afraid of picking up a brush!
"I’m very pleased to have won this Pride in the Job award. It shows that the NHBC inspectors were clearly impressed with the product being constructed by our quality driven team at Long Itchington and the award is deserved recognition for everyone involved. Buying a new home is the biggest single investment most people will make in their lifetime so it’s vital that we all take pride in our work and deliver a quality service."
Billed as the construction industry’s ‘Oscars’, the Pride in the Job awards are given annually and judging is carried out on site via regular yet impromptu visits by NHBC inspectors. They take into account a site manager’s leadership skills and quality standards of the site. The 400 Quality award winners go forward to compete for one of only 100 Seals of Excellence up for grabs.
David Livingstone, managing director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), says: "I am extremely proud of Mark and his team, who have won this accolade for his site management skills, commitment and hard work. We all work hard to ensure that quality standards are met and to win the NHBC award is great recognition for everyone involved in our business."
It is Mark’s first award for his excellent work and it is also his first role as site manager. The award recognises his efforts at Poppy Meadow where he’s overseen the 37 home ventures on the outskirts of the idyllic village.
Poppy Meadow is located just 6 miles from Leamington Spa in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside.
