Debut decision will delight Yorkshire’s first time buyers

The properties are from Redrow’s award winning Debut range and are set to go on sale in spring 2007 with starting prices expected to be from below £60,000 for a one-bedroom studio.

Selby District councillors initially gave the go-ahead in principle to the proposed development in June. The planning permission was confirmed in August when they approved detailed Section 106 contributions for public open space and health facilities and other related planning conditions.

Redrow held a public exhibition in May to showcase the homes and measure the level of public interest – between 150 and 200 people attended and the majority registered their support for the proposals by completing questionnaires for submission to Selby District Council.

"This is a momentous occasion for Redrow – although this is the seventh such development in the UK to get planning consent, it’s the first in Yorkshire. "Crucially, buy to let investors cannot purchase Debut homes - only owner occupiers are eligible to buy, ensuring that the properties are only sold to those people who need them most."

Debut customers can also take advantage of Redrow’s ‘Easi-buy’ option, with purchasers able to defer up to 10% of the purchase price as an interest-free fixed sum for up to 10 years. The customer has total flexibility how they pay it back – via occasional lump sums, monthly repayments or in whole at any time.

Prices for Debut @ Selby are expected to start at just £59,995* and it is hoped that even the largest properties will be priced under the £125,000 stamp duty threshold.
