Redrow raises ‘remarkable’ amount for national charity

A leading national charity is set to benefit from a £10,000 donation following a charity dinner dance held by house builder Redrow Homes (Lancashire).

The staggering total will help the British Heart Foundation continue their pioneering research into the treatment and prevention of heart disease.

It follows an event attended by nearly 400 Redrow staff, suppliers and sub-contractors at the De Vere Whites Hotel, at the Reebok Stadium in Horwich.

Tony Stevens, managing director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), based at Buckshaw Village, near Chorley, says: "We hold a charity dinner annually to raise cash for charity, but this is the first time we have had the British Heart Foundation as our sole beneficiary and are astounded at the amount we raised.

"I would like to thank all who attended for their support, for without their big-heartedness, we would not have been able to make such a sizeable donation. Everyone gave generously, including suppliers and sub-contractors who donated prizes, and we have been able to make a very big contribution to the charity."

The British Heart Foundation is the largest independent funder of heart research in the UK. They play an important role in funding education, reaching the public and health professionals. And they provide life-saving cardiac equipment and support for rehabilitation and patient care.

Carole McCartney, community fundraising and volunteer manager for the British Heart Foundation in Lancashire, says: "It is very kind of Redrow to support the British Heart Foundation in this way and to raise this amount of money from one event is truly remarkable."

Redrow is one of the UK’s top 10 house builders and has two subsidiary companies based in the north west of England, between them responsible for developments across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.
