Frodsham cricket club’s bowled over by Redrow’s generosity

Frodsham Cricket Club can now go into bat knowing they’re well on their way to securing funds for a vital new piece of training equipment for their team.

For the local junior cricket team is in desperate need of a brand new base for planned new cricket nets and is calling upon kind hearted and generous local businesses to follow in the footsteps of Redrow Homes.

The house builder, currently creating a new development of 59 houses and apartments on Bridge Lane in the town, has donated £600 towards the new cricket net base for the club as part of the company’s commitment to getting involved with the communities in which it builds.

Roger London, club captain, and the junior cricket organiser for Frodsham Cricket Club, made the initial contact with Redrow. He says: "We re-started the junior section two years ago and have grown steadily ever since, with a large amount of interest from young people in the local area.

"In order to meet the growing demand we need to buy new equipment and make improvements to our pitch, and as the club relies on volunteers and donations, we called upon Redrow, who we noticed were building in the area to help out. We’re really grateful for their support.

"We still need to raise £5,400 for new equipment and would welcome interest from other local businesses to help us reach our £6,000 goal."

However the cricket nets and base are not the largest issue that the club now has to worry about after their club house was recently hit by an arson attack. The club is currently waiting to hear if their insurance will cover the cost of rebuilding the damage.

Barbara Wright, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (North West), attended a fun day at the club recently to hand over the donation. She says: "Redrow doesn’t just build houses – when we start a new development we always try to get involved in the fabric of the local area and our donation to the cricket club is an excellent example of this. If other businesses can do the same it won’t be long before the new cricket nets are up and running."

Home buyers in Frodsham have also been bowled over by Redrow, this time impressed by the house builder’s quality new homes at Manor View, off Bridge Lane. The popular development is currently offering a choice of two-bedroom apartments, from £149,950 as well as a selection of four-bedroom family townhouses starting at £239, 950.
