Treetops great autumn deal
Fri, Oct 13th 2006, 11:00
With the average time needed to save for a deposit for a home now at an all-time high – it seems first-time buyers need all the help they can get.
So Redrow’s offer to pay 5% deposit on selected properties at Treetops, in Barnsley, will be music to their ears.
Julie Rayner, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: "According to National Savings and Investments, it now takes first-time buyers across the UK at least four years to save for a deposit – the first time this has happened. The latest figures show it is taking Yorkshire homebuyers four years and nine months to get their deposit together, compared with three years in 2004, with a further increase to five years expected.*
"This is a long time for first-time buyers to save up, especially considering that property prices are continually increasing. Therefore they could become trapped in a vicious circle – the more they save, the more house prices rise.
"At our Treetops development in Barnsley, we have a great home and a great deal that is perfect for first time buyers."
Treetops, just off Willbrook Rise, is located close to open countryside, with rural views, yet just a few minutes from the bustling town centre of Barnsley.
With the development growing into an enviable community and more and more people moving in, few homes remain for sale. Redrow expects some of the remaining properties to appeal to friends buying together to get on the ladder and is offering a special incentive to make this an easy way to buy a first home.
Julie continues: "It has become increasingly popular in the property market for first-time buyers to ‘buy with a buddy’ in order to get on the first rung of the property ladder. At Treetops, we have a great three-storey home that is perfect for those who are planning on buying with a friend."
The Malham offers three floors of living space with an integral garage and demonstrates the high level of specification that can be found in every home at this popular development.
Its layout briefly comprises a ground floor kitchen and dining area, cloakroom and integral garage. Upstairs, there’s a rear-facing lounge, bedroom and the family bathroom, while the second storey comprises two double bedrooms, once of which has an en-suite.
Currently, the Malham is priced from £170,995.
"It is perfect because the flexible layout allows friends to create their own spaces, therefore avoiding the typical scenario of living on top of each other.
"One friend could have the master bedroom on the first floor with family bathroom while the other friend could use the top floor and en-suite. To help first-time buyers more, we are currently offering this home with the 5% deposit paid, meaning they can stop saving and start enjoying their new property sooner than expected," adds Julie.
Treetops is the ideal location for commuters, thanks to its good road links, while families will enjoy the close-knit community feel of a small development. It’s located in the established residential area of Redbrook, just three miles from Barnsley town centre and within convenient distance of the M1 motorway, and the major towns of Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
