Liverpool home buyers go dotty for dot-art

Wed, Nov 22nd 2006, 11:00

Local home buyers and art-lovers rubbed shoulders at the official opening of an innovative art gallery with a twist last week.

Award winning house builder Redrow has teamed up with Liverpool-based art company dot-art to transform a show home into fully-fledged art gallery that is like no other.

Redrow’s new homes development, Cressington Heath in Garston, is the unusual setting for the exciting exhibition of paintings and art pieces – and after a sparkling opening night, the gallery will run until the end of March 2007.

Featuring the work of 15 artists who live and work on Merseyside, some of who were on hand at the launch, the ‘dot-art’ view home provides a ‘real life’ backdrop for their creations and highlights how easily art fits into the everyday home.

Lucy Byrne, managing director of dot-art, said: “The launch was great - everyone who visited was really impressed and we’ve had a lot of positive feedback. Now that people know it’s here they will be able to bring friends and family along to see the range of talent in the area.

“The exhibition will last until the end of March 2007 and will help Redrow customers to appreciate the beauty that individually designed art could bring to their own new home, as an alternative to the mass-market items available on the high street. During the exhibition visitors will be able to commission new work from our members or purchase the art on display.”

Each room has been given an individual theme. Visitors to the exhibition’s opening night saw floral designs in the kitchen, an urban Liverpool theme to bedroom three and photography in the master bedroom.

Irene Gifford, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: “This is the first time Redrow has done anything like this in Merseyside and we are very excited about the level of interest in the event so far. Home buyers can not only benefit from visiting a modern art exhibition, but can see it in a unique setting.

“The joint Redrow and dot-art venture is a fantastic opportunity to invest in home-grown talent and it is another example of the innovative ways in which Redrow invests in the communities in which it builds - from providing curriculum resource packs in schools and supporting local projects to sponsoring sports teams and fundraising for charity.”

For home buyers who snap up a new home at Cressington Heath throughout the duration of the dot-art gallery, Redrow will give them a £250 voucher to spend at the main dot-art gallery on Oriel Close, off Water Street (next door to the Newz Bar) in the city centre.

Cressington Heath will eventually comprise 314 new homes on a 35-acre site formally owned by Associated British Ports (ABP) between Aigburth and Garston.

Once complete, it will offer everything from two-bedroom apartments, through town houses and semi-detached properties to large and luxurious detached homes.

There has been a strong emphasis towards design and layout for the scheme, which will includes nautically-inspired features on some properties to fit in with the local vernacular and proximity to the River Mersey, while a third of the total acreage is an official nature conservation area. Redrow is also contributing financially to local public transport, specifically towards the provision of a new local bus service.

Come and visit the show home gallery, open daily and join the new revolution. Redrow has also opened the doors to a further three impressive show properties, which have been given the ultimate makeover by professional interior designers, Connections in Design. The Ouse, Neal and the Walkham have been designed and accessorised with the modern home buyer in mind and display Redrow living at its very best.
