Couple tries new home for size

Wed, Nov 22nd 2006, 11:00

The vast majority of people prefer to try before they buy whether it is a brand new car or new clothes, so why not apply the same principle when buying a new home?

That’s exactly what one couple did at Redrow’s Priorpot Mews development in Norton, near Malton.

Ian Fowler and Cassandra Roe, who currently live in Scarborough, test drove the Kennet show home at the popular North Yorkshire venture.

The couple, who have since gone on to reserve a Redrow home, jumped at the chance to test the water in the show home.

Cassandra says: “It’s a great idea for people to test drive the show home.  You get a real taste of what it is going to be like in your new home.

“We had a fantastic stay in the Kennet.  We had a good nosy around the house and then just relaxed and had some food.  I am seven months pregnant so it was really nice to just sit back and relax in a gorgeous house.  In the morning we had a walk around the development, which was brilliant – really peaceful and friendly.  You can already see that it is going to grow into a great community.”

Priorpot Mews is a development of two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes located off Scarborough Road in Norton.

“We chose to buy a home at Priorpot Mews as my partner Ian and I both work as staff nurses at separate hospitals and the development is right in the middle.  It’s perfect for commuting as it is really close to the motorway.

“We have taken so many ideas for our new home from the interior of the show home.  We had a really good time and would highly recommend test-driving a Redrow home,” adds Cassandra.

The three-bedroom Kennet has been dressed by an interior design company, who have taken this year’s ‘in’ colour to a new level.  The home has been dressed in neutral creams and browns with an accent colour of a sharp acidic green.

Cassandra says: “The Kennet has a brilliant funky feel to it.  The use of neutral colours with the green gives it a classic feel with a fresh twist.  We loved the mirrored furniture and modern light fittings.”

The Kennet briefly comprises a large open-plan lounge/diner, spacious kitchen and cloakroom. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, with an en suite shower room to the master, plus the main bathroom.

A Kennet style property is currently priced from £192,995.

Janine Bellamy, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: “We are not surprised that Cassandra and Ian have decided to buy a home at Priorpot Mews.  It is great development.

“A test drive is a good idea for people who can’t quite decide whether to move or not.  We understand that it is a big decision and would welcome any other buyers who wish to do the same to help them make their mind up.”

Cassandra and Ian, who are expecting their first baby at the beginning of January, have bought a three-bedroom, detached Hayward.

Cassandra adds: “We should be in our new home by the end of November – just in time for Christmas and the new arrival!”
