House builder Redrow is on cloud nine after scooping a top industry prize naming them as one of the nation’s very best.

The house builder, currently building new homes in and around Thatcham, Bexhill-on-Sea, Eastbourne, Crawley, Horsham and Bracknell, is celebrating after being awarded the ‘silver’ prize in the ‘best volume house builder’ category of a distinguished national property awards.

The glittering accolade, announced at What House? Magazine’s annual awards in London, is the icing on the cake of what has been an extremely successful year for Redrow.

For as well as focusing on delivering more of its core Signature range of family homes, the builder has continued to forge ahead with its successful Debut range, which has added a new rung to the ladder for despondent first time buyers across the UK.

Judges for the What House awards commented: “First time buyers – the forgotten generation. Without starter homes - as the name suggests – the market is going nowhere. The volume house builders, with the turning circle of an oil tanker not a speedboat, have for the most part been slow to respond, which is why Redrow should be applauded for what the company itself hails as its biggest achievement over the last 12 months.”

Judges commended the house builder for responding to the governments call to action for more starter homes, and also praised Redrow for not only delivering on price (Debut homes have started from under £50k) but also on ‘quality of design, incorporating modern methods of construction and adhering to sustainable criteria and environmental targets’.

But it wasn’t just the multiple award winning Debut homes which helped steer Redrow towards success. Redrow also received recognition for its impressive portfolio of property styles across the UK, from large scale regeneration to city apartments as well as its Signature range of traditional homes and excellent refurbishment work.

The judges marked Redrow as a ‘true all-rounder, responding to the needs of the market across all sectors.”

The silver award for ‘best volume house builder’ was just one of four honours bestowed on Redrow at the What House? Awards. The company’s Debut homes at Buckshaw Village, in Chorley, Lancashire were voted the best starter homes in the country, picking up the top rated ‘gold’ prize, while Debut @ Willans Green in Rugby, Warwickshire was awarded the ‘silver’ trophy for excellence in sustainability.

Redrow’s stunning waterside apartment venture, The Boardwalk, in Eastbourne, Sussex, picked up the ‘bronze’ award for having the best exterior. Designed to emulate a ship liner, The Boardwalk is the iconic centrepiece at Sovereign Harbour.

Redrow builds more than 4,300 new homes each year at more than 100 developments across England, Scotland and Wales, offering everything from its Debut starter homes and sympathetic restorations of listed buildings, to contemporary city centre apartments and large executive detached homes.
