Home sweet home? i do!

One young couple in Oldbury is recovering after making two life changing decisions in just two months.

Newly weds Richard and Catherine Dunn have upped sticks from their old life in Reading and have now settled in to their new home in Oldbury, near Birmingham. And as if that was not enough to be getting on with, the Dunns then got married, saying ‘I do’ just eight weeks after they moved in.

The plans started when Catherine – a hospital doctor – took a training position working in rotation at hospitals across the West Midlands.

Having rented for a year in Great Barr, the couple then took the plunge and bought a new home at Redrow’s Charter Place development in July – followed by their wedding shortly after on September 10.

Richard, 31, who works in e-sourcing, helping businesses purchase goods and services over the internet said: “Trying to organise a wedding at the same time as moving home, with both of us having full time jobs, was a bit hectic at times. However Redrow were very professional and helped make the move as smooth as possible.

“A big factor in choosing Charter Place was that Catherine moves from one hospital to another regularly and so when we decided to invest in a house, we were looking for somewhere that was well placed for commuting to all the major towns and cities.

“Charter Place is ideal for this as it has great access to the M5 and so it’s easy to reach Wolverhampton, and Halesowen and Birmingham are both nearby.

“Another draw was that we could afford a four bedroom house with space for both of us to have a home office. I work entirely from home and Catherine often does as well when she is writing medical papers. Our previous homes have both had three bedrooms, which meant we had to share an office space.”

Linda Androlia, sales director for Redrow Homes (West Midlands) said: “We’re delighted that Richard and Catherine are now enjoying a calmer way of life at Charter Place – after two life changing events in two months, we’re sure they’ll appreciate the peace and tranquillity in their new home.”

The homes currently available at Charter Place are ideal for young couples wishing to start a family or for young professionals like Richard and Catherine who need a home with the space and flexibility to suit their lifestyle.

A new range of homes has recently been released at Charter place with one and two bedroom apartments as well as two bedroom maisonettes and three bedroom houses currently available.

Among the three bedroom homes available at Charter Place is the three-bedroom Lambourne, which features a bonus ‘room in the roof’ – a ready-made loft conversion with a master bedroom and en-suite shower room. Prices for a mid-terrace Lambourne start at just £169,950. Three bedroom semi-detached houses start at just 183,950.

A selection of one and two bedroom apartments is also available at the development. Linda added: “For those who are not yet on the property ladder, there are currently also apartments available at prices well below the stamp duty threshold of £125,000.”

Prices for a one-bedroom Abandare apartment currently start at just £99,950 and two-bedroom maisonettes start at just £114,950.
