Designs for life

Redrow builds homes in some of the region’s most picturesque areas and the properties are designed to suit their local surroundings. Render, wood, brick and stone are all used to great effect to make their homes stand out and fit in with the local vernacular.
Hob Hey in Culcheth, near Warrington, is one place where Redrow has triumphed in creating a development that slots right in to the existing landscape. Set against a backdrop of beautiful mature trees in an established village location, the houses, mews and apartments have been built to suit the aspirations of those who live there.
The design and architecture at Hob Hey is based on the area surrounding the development. A large Georgian house nearby was the inspiration for some of the properties, as was the ‘gate house’ at Leigh Golf Club, which is located on the same lane as Hob Hey.
The layout of the venture is similar to that of a grand manor house from yesteryear, with outbuildings taking the form of a gate house at the development entrance, butler’s houses to the front and stable blocks to the rear.
Sonia Ross, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), says: “The Abbey courtyard with its gothic styling and large dramatic underpass leads to ‘workers’ cottages’ to the rear, giving the impression of stepping back in time. Hob Hey has been built to slot in to the surrounding village and with this locally and historically-inspired architecture, it fits in to Culcheth perfectly.”
Meanwhile, in the peaceful village of Hollins Green near Warrington, new homes at Redrow’s Brow Farm development, on School Lane, have all been cleverly designed to resemble converted farm buildings, such as cottages and farmhouses.
The location - a former farm - dictated the design and was the inspiration behind the architecture of the development, as all the buildings had to sit within the footprint and silhouette of the farm buildings.
A mix of traditional elevations, including brick, stone and render adds to the homes distinctly rural flavour.
Current prices at Hob Hey are from £309,995 for a four-bedroom home to £599,995 for a six-bedroom property. To find out more about the great winter deals at Hob Hey call the Redrow sales consultant on 01925 768982.
