Dreams really did come true for the well deserving charity The Rainbow Centre after award winning house builder Redrow raised an amazing total of over £9,000.
Redrow held its annual charity dinner in aid of The Rainbow Centre, a registered charity which provides free and professional support to children and their families affected by bereavement, life threatening illness and cancer.
With the help of pledges from Redrow’s employees, suppliers and sub-contractors, and a raffle, the evening raised £9,194 to help The Rainbow Centre continue with its much-needed work.
Rob Slocombe, managing director of Bristol-based Redrow Homes (South West), says: “We are a Bristol-based business and have built a number of developments throughout the city and surrounding areas. However, we are far from being just a house builder, we strive to create new communities and enhance the ones in which we build and supporting local charities is part of this process.
“It was our sixth charity dinner in aid of The Rainbow Centre – they are a very local charity to us and we think they do a fantastic job.”
Situated in a quiet residential area of Bristol, The Rainbow Centre provides a haven of peace for children and their families across the South West who are suffering from the effects of bereavement, cancer and life-threatening illness. They are supported through play, music and art therapy, counselling, homoeopathy, massage therapy and group work.
Angela Emms, director of The Rainbow Centre, says: “The charity dinner was a really touching tribute to the hard work and commitment that The Rainbow Centre has given to the community over the last 20 years. Redrow has raised over £30,000 for us over the last few years and the £9,000 raised this year will go a long way to helping us continue our services. It is the equivalent of The Rainbow Trust providing support to three whole families a year!
“We are really grateful to Redrow for the hugely generous contribution to our cause and would like to thank everyone who attended the charity dinner for their kindness and fantastic generosity.”
Support for organisations like The Rainbow Centre has helped Redrow nationally to retain its Business in the Community (BITC) Percent Standard for four consecutive years. This voluntary benchmark recognises companies that give at least one percent of their pre-tax profits back to the community in cash donations, sponsorships, employee time and gifts in kind.
Redrow’s Bristol-based South West operation currently has a number of developments at Swindon, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Westbury, in Wiltshire, and Gloucester and Nailsworth in Gloucestershire, as well as the exciting venture of 87 unique homes at Knightstone Island in Weston-super-Mare.
