House builder picks team players

A national house builder has selected two football fanatics to join its construction ‘squad’.

Redrow, which has new homes developments in Edgbaston, Streetly, Hednesford, Oldbury, Quarry Bank, and has several high profile ventures in Stoke on Trent, has just promoted Chris Hanks and Glynne Garratt to area construction managers.

Both football fanatics, Glynne and Chris will now take overall responsibility for construction at Redrow’s developments across the West Midlands, including managing site managers, assistant site managers and construction teams.

Sportsman Chris, from Stourport on Severn, once played semi-professional football for Bromsgrove and still plays Sunday league football at weekends while Glynne is an avid West Bromwich Albion supporter and never misses a game – home or away.

Glynne, 44, has nearly 30 years’ experience in the construction industry and has been in a managerial role for more than 13 years, joining Redrow three and a half years ago as site manager.

He said: “I was attracted to work at Redrow mainly because the company has a great reputation and the project I was invited to work on initially, the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Wergs Hall near Wolverhampton, was exciting as it was something I had never done before.”
        
Glynne was recently promoted from contracts manager and now oversees construction at five Redrow developments in Streetly, Stoke, Quarry Bank and Oldbury.

Meanwhile, 43-year-old Chris has worked at Redrow for five years, starting out as site manager at a development of large luxury detached homes in Stone.

His new promotion means he will have responsibility for three developments in Streetly and Stoke.

Chris said: “I enjoy working for Redrow because the company is committed to high quality traditional building techniques. Seeing developments through from start to finish is a tremendously satisfying experience.”
