Redrow brings Horsham homes within reach for cash strapped buyers
Thu, Feb 8th 2007, 10:01
With the time it now takes to save up a deposit said to be around three and half years, it’s no surprise first time buyers are despondent.
Recent statistics from Alliance and Leicester* claim it now takes up to 42 months to save up enough cash to make it on to the ladder.
However, in Horsham, one house builder is giving those who thought they would never be able to afford their own home a lifeline. Redrow Homes is currently offering to pay the 5% deposit on selected apartments at its OneEighty venture in the town.
Paul Moran, sales director for Redrow Homes (Southern) says: “Young 20 and 30 somethings are having too much of a good time to worry about saving hard for a deposit. Even though a new home may be top of their wish list, the reality of saving a cash deposit is just too hard for some and can take years as the Alliance and Leicester statistics suggest.
“Surprisingly, the research by Alliance and Leicester also found that nearly a third of potential first time buyers are not saving for a deposit at all, despite having aspirations of getting onto the housing ladder in the next two years.
“However our offer to take care of the deposit can leave purchasers able to choose a brand new property at OneEighty now, without a delay, and free to concentrate on the more enjoyable aspects of moving in to a home of their own.”
Prices for the stylish properties at OneEighty start from just £173,000. A typical apartment boasts two bedrooms, some with en-suite, fitted wardrobes, open plan kitchen, living room and dining area, and a storage cupboard. Each apartment also comes with its own parking space.
OneEighty is close to Horsham town centre, which boasts all the amenities you could need, with its many high street retail outlets as well as two shopping centres.
Trains travelling from Horsham Railway Station reach London in around an hour - perfect for home buyers who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
Travel connections around Horsham are excellent with easy access to the A24, A29 and the A2981, leading to London, Chichester, Brighton and beyond.
OneEighty is being developed by Basingstoke-based Redrow Homes (Southern), a subsidiary of Redrow plc, which builds circa 5,000 homes across the UK each year. The Southern company currently has developments in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East and West Sussex, including the popular Porterhouse development in Three Bridges, Crawley.
To snap up an apartment at OneEighty, visit Halifax estate agents, 24 Carfax, Horsham, Tuesdays to Fridays, from 10.30am to 5pm. Alternatively call the sales consultant on 01403 254760.
