Selby starter homes make their debut
Wed, Feb 14th 2007, 11:00
The excitement is building in Selby as first time buyers lined up to take a look at Redrow’s innovative starter home development in the town centre.
More than 70 visitors attended an exhibition at Selby’s Abbey Leisure Centre to see floor plans, photography, development layouts and specifications of the trendy starter homes, which are set to be built on the site of the former Providence Mill, off Holme Lane in Selby.
The scheme will feature 123 one and two-bedroom homes, with areas of public open space, while the development of a riverside walk along the River Ouse is also planned. Home buyers can now register interest in the homes – and Redrow is urging them to act fast to avoid missing out.
Julie Rayner, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: “Debut @ The Holmes is expected to launch in September. However we wanted to start letting people know about the homes now as we’re expecting huge, huge interest. Already we have many firmly interested budding purchasers, and as the launch date draws closer, I’m certain the interest will increase too.”
Debut is Redrow’s solution to the shortage of starter homes that are within financial reach of young first time buyers. They’re innovative in terms of design and will be built to target an eco-excellent rating of ‘Excellent’ – making them potentially among the most environmentally friendly homes in the country. Investors are barred from purchasing, so they really will go to those who need them most.
Julie continues: “In other parts of the country, Debut launches have created queues of nervous yet excited budding buyers eager to stake their claim on the property ladder and we’re hoping for the same buzz here as we launch out first Debut properties in Yorkshire.
“Our prices will start at £59,995* for a one-bed studio, going up to £104,995** for the largest two-bedroom home. All of the properties will be priced under the all-important £125,000 stamp duty threshold.”
Debut customers can take advantage of Redrow’s ‘Easi-buy’ option, with purchasers able to defer up to 10% of the purchase price as an interest-free fixed sum for up to 10 years. The customer has total flexibility how they pay it back – via occasional lump sums, monthly repayments or in whole at any time.
Special measures are also in place to keep running costs as low as possible, while a monthly service charge covers utility bills, as well as building insurance and external maintenance. These features are all geared towards making home ownership accessible, affordable and easy to manage for those starting out or starting over.
