The star of the of the classic 1968 film, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will fly into the streets of Redrow’s Cwm Calon development this weekend (March 10th/11th).

The unique Chitty Chitty Bang Bang motorcar, designed and built especially for the fabulous motion picture, will be on show at the development in Ystrad Mynach, near Caerphilly, for a Redrow day of fun and magic.

Bev Wookey, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales), says: “It’s great to be bringing Chitty to Cwm Calon. The film is such a children’s classic and we’re really looking forward to treating visitors to this special guest. Children will be able to sit behind the wheel and be transported into the ‘truly scrumptious’ world depicted in the film.”

Although several mock-ups of the car were made for use in the film only one real, custom-built, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang automobile was painstakingly constructed to be used on the road. The car is street-legal and is registered as a motor vehicle in the UK with the same licence plate it had in the film, ‘GEN 11’.

Bev adds: “And as if the arrival of Chitty wasn’t enough, visitors will also be treated to a family fun day filled with other special treats. There will be people on stilts as well as a magician to keep visitors entertained – it really is not to be missed!”
