Moving onto bigger things

Changing lifestyles and growing families mean that there comes a time for most people when they need to take the step into a larger home.
And luckily for buyers in the Stoke area, one leading house builder is providing plenty of choice.
Those in the know are heading to Redrow’s Doulton Grange in Baddeley Green to seek out their new home, and the well-established development certainly has plenty to offer.
Linda Androlia, sales director for Redrow Homes (West Midlands) says: “Since the very early days at Doulton Grange, when building had just started, we all had a feeling that it had the potential to be a special development. And now that it has matured, with growing street scenes and landscaping, it’s clear what a great community has evolved as we move into the last phase.
“One trend we have noticed is people coming to the development in search of a larger property, whether it’s because of a growing family or just a desire for more space. This is probably because we can offer an established neighbourhood to call home – which is obviously great for children – as well good local amenities in Hanley, and excellent travel links to the M6 which make both Birmingham and Manchester within easy reach.”
Although a larger property might be on the menu for many home hunters, not all buyers want or need the same thing. Some might hanker after three storey living, others prefer a more traditional two-storey detached layout, whilst some love the charm of a mews style home – and all these demands can be met at Doulton Grange.
The three-bedroom Fairwood, priced from £155,950, is a perfect second house purchase. Great for young professionals who have tired of apartment living and want more room - perhaps with the view to starting a family in the future - this property offers a multitude of desirable features including detached single garage, downstairs cloakroom, garden, under-stairs storage and en-suite to the master bedroom.
Linda says: “Apartments are great for those who are taking the first step onto the ladder, or people who want to downsize, but for people who are planning to extend their family or just want more space for hobbies or to work at home, the Fairwood is the ideal first house.”
Meanwhile, those in the market for a larger property have both the Neale and Tamar designs to consider.
The Neale is a contemporary four-bedroom, three storey townhouse that offers buyers flexibility in their living arrangements. The ground floor is given to a spacious kitchen and dining area to the rear, with a family living space to the front of the property, along with the downstairs cloakroom and under-stairs storage.
The first floor contains the master bedroom with en-suite shower room, and in a design twist, the lounge. Having the lounge in this elevated position creates a real sense of security and privacy. Finally, the three further bedrooms and family bathroom are nestled on the top floor. The Neale is currently priced from £172,950.
Offering something different again is the Tamar, a four-bedroom detached home, currently priced from £234,950. The large lounge, fitted kitchen and separate dining room are all located on the ground floor, while the bedrooms – with en-suite shower room to the master – and family bathroom are on the first floor.
Doulton Grange itself is located on Leek New Road in Baddeley Green, and opens with a ‘Georgian’ look avenue. Offering a range of properties from two-bedroom apartments right through to four-bedroom detached homes, the growing community is attracting a wide spectrum of buyers.
With both the A50 and A500 nearby, giving direct links to the M6, Birmingham and Manchester, travel links are excellent. All the amenities of Hanley town centre are on hand, and Festival Park and Octagon Retail Park offer some of the best local shopping.
