Help for first time buyers in Grimsby

Wed, Apr 11th 2007, 11:00

Getting a foothold on the all-important property ladder can be tricky – but Redrow is making in easier in more ways than one this weekend (21/22 April).

The house builder is hosting a special First Time Buyer weekend at its Kirk’s Paddock development in Scartho, Grimsby, where both expert advice and refreshments will be on offer to those eager to own a home of their own.

Julie Rayner, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: “Deciding to buy your first home is incredibly exciting, but with so many decisions to make it can be difficult to work out what is best for you.

“Those who come to our event this weekend will be able to talk to an independent financial adviser to work out what they can afford, as well as check out the fabulous homes on offer at Kirk’s Paddock – ideally suited to those taking their first step onto the ladder.”

And attendees could come away with much more than some good advice, as Redrow is currently offering buyers £500 toward their mortgage each month for the first year – a lifeline for cash-strapped first timers.

Julie says: “By offering this incentive, we’re able to ease the financial burden for our customers in that tricky first year. Getting all the necessary household items together and becoming used to paying your own bills can take a while if it’s the first time you’ve lived in your own home - our mortgage subsidy can help first time buyers through this transition period.”

Kirk’s Paddock has plenty to offer for first timers, with the two-bedroom Calder design starting at just £119,995. An end-townhouse with a detached single garage, this home offers a spacious lounge and separate kitchen on the ground floor, as well as useful under-stairs storage space and cloakroom. The first floor holds the two generously sized bedrooms and bathroom.

And for buyers who need a little more space, the three-bedroom Ennerdale is priced from just £134,995. The large lounge is located off the hallway, with the kitchen dining area to the rear, along with cloakroom and under-stairs storage. Upstairs are the bedrooms – the master to the front – and the bathroom.

Julie adds: “These homes are the ideal first step onto the ladder, and Kirk’s Paddock itself is well placed for young professionals. With Grimsby town centre just two miles away, and direct rail routes to Manchester, Doncaster and Sheffield, the action is never far away. By coming to our open weekend, potential buyers will get invaluable advice and a glimpse into what life as a home owner could offer them.”

All are welcome at Redrow’s First Time Buyer event this weekend (21/22 April) at Kirk’s Paddock, Scartho, between 10am and 5:30pm each day. For more information about the event or the development in general, please call 01472 276868.
