Updated plans on show
Tue, Apr 17th 2007, 11:00
Devonport people have another opportunity to discover more about the latest plans for the old South Yard stores enclave with a ‘follow up’ community information day on Thursday, April 19th.
Updating residents on changes made to the latest planning applications since a first consultation meeting at the end of March, the event will also be the first time that proposed external elevations of the next four ‘zones’ of development are put on show.
The community information days are part of an extensive consultation process that is helping to shape the plans that Redrow will submit to Plymouth City Council for their consideration.
The ‘drop-in’ style event will take place between 2pm and 7pm at Redrow’s ‘Insight into Vision’ information centre, off Chapel Street, Devonport, on Thursday, April 19th. As well as Redrow, representatives of Devonport Regeneration Community Partnership, Devon and Cornwall Housing Association, Sovereign Housing Association, Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and Plymouth City Council will also be involved.
Anne Tillett, community liaison officer for Redrow, says: “Our previous community open day on March 29th was very successful and we had lots of comments on our proposals for the next four zones of development at Vision. Following on from that event and other consultation, we will be providing feedback on the comments made to us and have also added more detail to the plans, including how the proposed buildings might look. This information will be available to anyone who attends on Thursday.”
The Vision development will eventually comprise more than 460 new homes, including affordable housing for shared ownership and/or rent, plus a range of employment, retail and mixed use development, including a new police station, offices and a supermarket.
Zone B, the first of 14 such zones, already has a detailed planning consent for 65 new homes and 535 sq. metres of mixed-use development suitable for retail, employment and community use. The first of the residential properties are expected to go on sale in mid-May.
Redrow hopes to submit a ‘reserved matters’ planning application for the next zone, G, by the end of this month. This includes the building earmarked for a new police station.
Transport for people with disabilities is available to/from the community information day, if required. Contact Anne Tillett on 01392 354550 to arrange.
