Housing expert builds her own home!

Working in the housing industry has given Mary Timlin plenty of insight into new homes – so now she’s building one for herself.
Mary Timlin, Redrow’s newest recruit as Sales Director for the South Midlands operation, is building her own five bedroom home in Billing Park, Northampton.
With nearly 15 years’ experience climbing the ranks of the housing industry, Mary can be assured that she’s got what it takes to produce a fantastic home for her family.
Fresh out of a role as sales director for private house builder Heyford Homes, Mary has joined Redrow in Northampton. She has previously worked for Barratt and KingsOak.
Mary says: “I enjoyed my time with Heyford but I really wanted to work for a volume house builder with a national profile again. When I saw the Redrow job advertised I knew that it was the job, and company, for me.
“I am looking forward to the cut and thrust of working for a major plc - chasing targets, having a structure and just the general challenge that it provides. I’ve often worked with Redrow as a competitor in the past, so I can appreciate the company’s reputation for being a very good quality house builder.”
Whilst busy focusing on how best to meet the challenges of helping Redrow achieve its growth targets in the South Midlands area of operation, Mary is also firmly focused on meeting her own family’s housing needs.
Mary and husband John, who are currently renting a property while they shape their future home, have three children – Hannah,18, Elliot,17, and Molly, eight.
She said: “The opportunity arose for us to build our own home so we took it – it’s something that we’ve always wanted to do. Planning permission had already been granted for the external design, but we got to design the internal structure ourselves – which was really exciting.”
The Sales Director role will see Mary taking responsibility for Redrow’s developments throughout the South Midlands, including popular apartment scheme The Wharf near Leighton Buzzard, Oakley Vale in Corby and The Grange in Desborough. Mary will also be over-seeing Redrow’s new developments in Bletchley and St Neots.
She adds: “There’s a great range of homes in the South Midlands for me to work with – from waterside apartments, to whole self-contained communities. I’m really looking forward to being involved from the start in the brand new developments in Bletchley and St Neots. Since starting way back when as a sales negotiator, this business has got under my skin - and I hope to be in it for many years to come.”
