Redrow to ‘court’ bath home buyers
Fri, May 18th 2007, 11:00
A dozen luxury homes in a popular part of the historic city of Bath are set to be the latest venture by award winning Redrow Homes.
The 12 high-value homes will occupy a site of 0.57 acres, off Bruton Avenue, in the vibrant Bear Flat area, about a mile-and-a-half from the city centre.
Once tennis courts for the adjoining properties until the 1970s, the site currently comprises redundant lock-up garages.
Mike Blake, land director for Bristol-based Redrow Homes (South West), said: “This is an excellent opportunity for people seeking a property within a small enclave of exclusive private dwellings, with good local amenities on their doorstep and which will also be within easy reach of the city centre.
“The site has been acquired from a respected local developer with considerable experience in Bath, who has secured a Conservation Area consent to demolish the garages and a detailed consent for the erection of 12 new dwellings.”
Redrow’s scheme will comprise an impressive terrace of spacious family homes with three or four bedrooms, tailored to customers’ individual requirements. The roof space of each property will be utilised to create a third floor of valuable living accommodation and the completed development will have a finished value of around £5 million.
The houses will be of a high quality and specification, built in local Ashlar Stone with timber sash windows and Conservation Area detailing, as befits the location, together with more contemporary glazing to feature plots.
As part of the development, Redrow will contribute to upgrading local play facilities in nearby Alexandra Park and improving local bus shelters.
Redrow anticipates work at Bruton Avenue, Bath, starting in July 2007, with the first homes ready to move into by spring next year.
