Lifeline for first time buyers in Lincoln

Thu, May 31st 2007, 11:00

With house prices in Lincoln averaging at £149,000 and first time buyers said to be priced out of the market in 92% of UK towns, Redrow’s affordable Debut home range will come to the rescue of many.

Struggling first time buyers can breathe a huge sigh of relief as the much anticipated Debut home scheme, which offers one- and two-bedroom homes from as little as £59,995*, opens its doors.

Similar properties have already provided a much needed lifeline for cash-strapped first time buyers all over the UK, including Rugby, Birmingham, Chorley, Stoke-on-Trent and Derby.

The award winning selection of affordable and stylish properties will soon touch down in Bunkers Hill, just outside of Lincoln, showcasing 124 homes.

Catherine Cloke, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (East Midlands) says: “We know how tough it is for first time buyers to get a foot on the property ladder, but these homes really give buyers a lifeline. With some prices around £90,000 less than the average house prices in Lincoln, first time buyers are in for a nice surprise at Bunkers Hill.

“The homes really are affordable and attractive, and are popular across the country, so anyone that is interested needs to pre-register their interest as soon as possible before the launch. At previous launches, we have had queues and people have even queued overnight to get their hands on a Debut home, and with such low prices we’re expecting similar appeal at Lincoln

“Redrow also offers the popular Easi-buy scheme on Debut homes, which allows buyers to defer 10% of the price of their new home for up to 10 years on a fixed sum basis, which can be paid back via occasional lump sums, monthly repayments or in whole at any time. In other words, it’s like an interest free loan.”

One of the innovations of Redrow’s Debut range is that the buyer pays just one monthly service charge, which includes the gas, water and electricity bills, as well as buildings insurance, external maintenance – and even the cost of window cleaning –making it so much easier to budget when setting up home for the first time.

Much of the cost-saving in Debut homes comes from the way in which they are constructed, using a lightweight structural steel frame and other modern methods of construction, which speeds up the build programme without compromising on quality.

There are also carefully managed outdoor spaces, which are designed to create a sense of neighbourhood, and Redrow homes are designed to achieve an EcoHomes rating of ‘Excellent’ – making them good for the planet, as well as the pocket.

Debut @ Bunkers Hill offers the best of both city and country living, thanks to its great location nestled between the centre of Lincoln and open country side.

The venture is around two miles north of Lincoln which is centred on the world famous cathedral and castle and offers magnificent architectural heritage dating back more than 2000 years.

The development is situated close to Redrow’s existing Lindum Point, a scheme of one and two bedroom apartments set around a formal square and gardens.

The launch takes place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th June. To be in with a chance to own one of these fantastic homes, you must register with Redrow before the launch and become pre-qualified to buy at Bunkers Hill.
