Waterfront living in Hanley

Tue, Jun 12th 2007, 11:00

A new homes venture overlooking the Caldon Canal in Hanley is making waves with those after a slice of life at the waterfront.

Since launching in March, Water’s Edge by Redrow has been drawing buyers in with its superb mix of property in this desirable location, and with summer on the way its popularity looks set to keep on rising.

Lynne Gardner,  Redrow area sales manager, says: “Living by water has a real cachet, and there’s nothing nicer than to take a stroll by the canal bank on a hot summer’s evening. Residents at Water’s Edge will be able to do just that, and the wide range of homes available means this contemporary lifestyle is available to all.”

Water’s Edge signifies the continuation of Redrow’s investment in the Stoke area, and those who buy here will also benefit from the wider City Waterside regeneration scheme – which will see the development of canalside cafes and water activities.

These homes also form part of a major Pathfinder housing project, which is backed by the government through English Partnerships

“This is definitely an area on the up and now is the time for buyers to make a move to ensure their place in this emerging urban community. We have something suitable for everyone and our range of modern three-storey homes seems to have hit the spot with buyers across the board,” adds Lynne.

Indeed, a recent survey of 1,000 Redrow customers showed that almost two thirds of three-storey converts would rather keep their extra floor than move into a larger two-storey home, with most buyers using the extra space for bedrooms. Customers also highlighted that having three floors of living space gives great scope for being creative with internal layouts, and is useful for giving over sections of their home to a home office, gym or as private space for older children.

Amongst the three-storey homes on offer at the moment is the four-bedroom Neale, priced from £169,950. The ground floor offers a living room to the front of the property, with fully fitted kitchen and dining area to the rear, as well as cloakroom and under-stairs storage. Moving up, the first floor holds the main lounge – its elevated status offering a sense of privacy and security – and the master bedroom with en-suite shower room. The remaining bedrooms and family bathroom are on the top floor.

Although three-storey living is proving popular with those who want a flexible way of living, Water’s Edge also has traditional two-storey, two and three-bedroom homes, priced from £117,500 and £149,950 respectively.

Lynne says: “Our larger four-bedroom homes are great for families, or even groups of friends buying together, but our smaller homes offer a great opportunity for young professionals or even first time buyers to get on the property ladder.”

The development itself is set to grow into a vibrant community, which will eventually feature 108 one and two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom duplex apartments and three and four-bedroom homes.
