Redrow helps team kick off!

A team of junior football players have been given a well deserved treat in the shape of a brand new kit courtesy of local house builder, Redrow Homes.

Brackla Juniors Under 12 team, who have been playing together since a lot of the boys were only six, have had a good season and are moving up to play in the Bridgend and District Junior Football League next season.

A £340 boost from Redrow means the team can start afresh next season in their new bright blue kit.

Ken Taylor, the Brackla Juniors Coach said: “The new kit is fantastic and it looks really smart. We’ve only had a photograph taken in the kit and the lads are yet to play in it but they already love it. It’s a very similar blue to Cardiff City’s strip, so that’s pleased our Bluebird supporters.

“We’re really grateful to Redrow for sponsoring the new kit. We have to buy a new strip every two years because the lads grow so fast and it’s a lot of money. Without sponsorship from companies like Redrow we’d have a real problem finding funding for new equipment.”

Redrow recognises the importance of local sports teams, not only to help maintain the health and fitness of members of the communities in which they build, but also by encouraging future professional talent.

Glyn Mabey, managing director of Redrow Homes (South Wales), said: “The Brackla Juniors have worked really hard this season and we’re glad to be able to give them a well deserved reward.

“Helping out local projects and teams is really important to Redrow and it’s a bonus that we are able to give something back to the community. We wish the team best of luck in the league next season; hopefully their new kit will inspire them to many more victories.”

Sponsorships like these, together with charity fundraising, employee volunteering and other initiatives have helped Redrow to retain the Business in the Community % Standard for three consecutive years, a voluntary benchmark which recognises companies that give at least one percent of their profits back to the community.
