Flying high

Pilot Dean Smith knew he had found the perfect destination when he spotted a brand new housing development in Horsham.

The ThomsonFly pilot had been for looking somewhere close to Gatwick airport and Redrow’s apartment venture OneEighty was the perfect place for him.

The town is also home to many of Dean’s friends and colleagues, meaning that the 24 year old is never alone.

Dean says: “The obvious attraction to living at OneEighty is its close proximity to Gatwick – it’ll only take me 20 minutes to get there, whereas at the moment it takes me around an hour and a half.

“On top of that, I have always wanted a new build home – everything’s new and ready to go and there’s no work for me to do. The apartments at OneEighty are just perfect for me.”

Dean currently lives with his parents in Brentwood, Essex, while he waits for his brand new two-bedroom apartment to be completed.

He continues: “I’ve lived away from home since I was 18 so moving back in with my parents has been difficult! I needed to do it though so that I could save up for my deposit for the apartment. I also worked out of Indonesia for three months for ThomsonFly, doing long haul flights. I stayed on the island of Sulawesi and it was really good and just something different to do – I’m hoping to go back again this year. I’ve also been able to save up some extra money which I’ll be using for my deposit.

“Living somewhere that fits perfectly into my job is fantastic. I’ve always been interested in flying and aeroplanes – I think if I wasn’t a pilot I’d still fly at weekends. I’m lucky that I do something that I actually enjoy for a living. At the moment I’m only doing short haul flights – my favourite destination is Sharm El Sheik in Egypt – but later in the year I’ll be doing long haul flights. I’m looking forward to it because it means I’ll have more time off and be able to see more of the places I fly to.”

Dean’s apartment is in the Grace Court block at OneEighty, and comes with an en-suite to master bedroom, fitted wardrobe, bathroom, second bedroom, kitchen, storage cupboard and open plan dining and living area.

OneEighty is close to Horsham town centre, which boasts local amenities such as restaurants and supermarkets, with many high street retail outlets as well as two shopping centres.

Trains travelling from Horsham Railway Station reach London in around an hour - perfect for home buyers who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the capital. Travel connections around Horsham are excellent with easy access to the A24, A29 and the A2981, leading to London, Chichester, Brighton and beyond.

Prices at OneEighty start at £199,000 and go up to £224,000.
