New MD for Redrow in Yorkshire

Thirty years in the housing industry gives Jim Cropper the necessary knowledge and experience to take Redrow Homes forward in the Yorkshire region.

Jim (pictured), 53, is the new managing director for Redrow’s Wakefield-based operation, which currently has developments from Malton and Bridlington in the north, to Sheffield in the south and Grimsby to the east.

He’s joined Redrow from Cala Homes, also in Yorkshire, but has been a senior manager or director for several volume housebuilders – in the North West, South Wales and Yorkshire - since starting his career with Wimpey in the 1970s.

Originally from Liverpool, Jim took a degree in urban estate management at the city’s polytechnic, now Liverpool John Moores University, before spending a brief spell as a sales negotiator selling new homes. He was quickly accepted for Wimpey’s five-year graduate training programme and the rest, as they say, is history.

On joining Redrow, he said: “It’s great to be back in a busy and challenging, plc environment, with the opportunity to grow the Yorkshire operation to a level of around 600 units per annum.

It is also committed to the principles of good urban design, which, having been responsible for a number of award winning schemes in the past, is particularly pleasing to me.”

Married to Judy, with two grown-up children, outside work Jim enjoys playing tennis, golf and going to the gym – when time allows!

Based in Wakefield, Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) is currently building in Bridlington, Grimsby, Barton-upon-Humber, Danum St Giles, near Doncaster, Norton, near Malton, Osgodby, Selby, Hamilton, Bingley, Leeds and Barnsley,. New developments are due to commence in Sherburn-in-Elmet and Sheffield.  It’s part of Redrow plc, which builds approximately 5,000 new homes per annum in England, Scotland and Wales.
