A donation of £1,000 is on its way to Headway Essex, thanks to the customer-friendly skills of staff at an award- winning house building.
Basildon based Redrow Homes (Eastern) has won the company’s annual customer service award – pipping the Midlands company to the post by just one point. In return for their dedication and hard work, they have been rewarded with £1,000 to a charity of their choice – Headway Essex.
George Cronin, managing director of Redrow Homes (Eastern) says: “We’re absolutely delighted at winning the customer service award – we’ve upped our game since last year when we came third, and it has paid off.
“Headway Essex is a charity we have worked with before and there was no question of the money going to anyone but them. They’re such nice people and they do great work, and we’re proud to be associated with them.
“By donating this money we have become one of the first companies to join Headway’s One K Club, which is a new initiative for local businesses to become involved in the work that the charity does and meet other like-minded companies.”
Based in Colchester, Headway Essex has been providing essential support and care to those who have been affected by acquired brain injury for the past 21 years. Their support helps many people resume something of their old life and helps them to rebuild the skills that have been lost as a result of their brain injury, through a series of activities including a day care centre and brain injury advisory service, which currently offers support and advice to over 270 families throughout the county.
Redrow recently hosted a lavish ball for Headway, which, with the help of other local businesses, an auction and a raffle, raised over £20,000.
George adds: “Headway’s office is just down the road from our development, The Myle, in Colchester, and a family member of one of our staff has benefited from the work that Headway does, which is why we chose them to be our worthy benefactors.”
Mary Beverley, fundraising manager for Headway Essex, says: “We’re delighted that Redrow is joining the One K Club at this early stage, and we hope that they have a lot of fun with it and will soon by joined by many more members. This is a chance for Essex businesses to make a real difference to the lives of those affected by brain injury.
“The £1,000 it costs for a year’s membership to the club can pay for anything from 10 weeks of rehabilitation for someone with a brain injury, to four monthly support group meetings, to 22 ten-pin bowling sessions for those with a brain injury.
“Members of the club will have the opportunity to attend corporate events and an annual function, and will also receive a newsletter. We provide a vital and useful service and this is a great opportunity for local businesses to become involved with this local charity.”
Redrow’s Basildon-based Eastern operation currently has three developments in Essex – The Myle, at Colchester, The Lakes, in Heybridge and The Rodings, soon to be launched in Loughton, plus developments at Ashford and Sittingbourne, in Kent, Kesgrave and Bury St. Edmunds, in Suffolk, and Hitchin, Herts.
